Olio cover

looking at chinese dragons, the looping form and movement. I have been drawing curving cats and combined the two forms of a elongated cat.
After a recent trip into the forest, I was captured by the light and the magic of the atmosphere with the birds tweeting. Combeine this magic with the fleeting moment of seeing a fox scatting between the trees. I have added a shadow of the fox transformed into a wolf or similar larger animal.
Colours - the cool colours of the trees and the contrast of the hot coloured fox.

Business cards

To me, I don’t think these business cards are as effective as they could be ...
fronts
Jan Knibbs, Elsiebelle, Beau Rocks.
Spotted Cow Creations, Kate Chidley, Amber Designs.

Knibbs - her front design has 4 contact details, and a description of what she does. The image is effective in showng what her work looks like, however on the back, it is plain. I feel the design could be improved by removing some of the front from a cluttered design, and placing them on the back.
Elsiebelle - An attractive card, but the font and amount of text takes away any first impression.
Beau Rocks - A stunning photo, but the website in the white font is obscured by the colours in the photo behind. The back, the information is all at the bottom, in pale writing.
Spotted Cow Creations - A simple card, but what is their products? Having searched their website, they sell silk daisy chains. But  having forgotten this, their card doesn’t hold any prompts.
Kate Chidley - a single image on the front is quite powerful, sowing her quirky twist, although the back is too full of text. However she has got her website in large font which redeems itself.
Amber designs - On an attractive card, although too flimsy and would crease easy. The black ink has been absorbed by the paper and appears dull.
backs

Beara Beara ,  Tyro laser , The Darkwood,  Lella Dey,  Jackie White.

Beara Beara - Leather goods, simple design that fits. Simple design on the back with details. The details could be a bit larger. The font is in a brown colour, fitting for the theme.

Business cards

There has been a few local markets on recently, and I have looked at their stalls, business cards and tock. I have asked about how they set up and  what are the best methods they find to advertise.

One of the stalls at the Suffolks street market was http://www.chunkichilli.com
There is a great sense of humour within the designs, most have quirky outfits and bright colours.

Lots of different animals were featured, including a kangaroo and joey.

She has around 200 knitters based in China, who work from her designs. They use organic cotton wool.

Icons and branding-
Puma - fast, energetic, strong.  We looked at tiny snippets of logo to see how recognisable they were - a lot of them we knew straight off just from the colours or font.
Think about what type face and images, Logo? Whats it suggest? What does it say about you?
Get different reviews about your images, see how they react.

Analyse two different branding packs -

Waitrose ‘love life’ - green - healthy. simple, different font - got ‘fancy font’. Sliming stripes. Calories are large font - for ‘health conscious’. Maybe for women who want to lose weight - CALORIES SLIMMING. Looks like Asda because it’s green. Minimalistic.

Ainsley Harriet cup soup. -  font is in blue ... doesn’t suit the warm vegetables. Calories still on front. dark box. Ainsley featured on front with signature - buying from Ainsley. Too much going on. Competition o the front.  Inspired by traveling - different flavours.
Nutritional information and competition are same size. Blue and black, masculine colours. Have Facebook and twitter information.

chocolate =  tesco own dark chocolate - percentage big. Cardboard box is nice. Stacked chocolate. Graduated orange, mentions Ivory Coast.
Other has flowing text, like cadburys, red matches with cola. Has the rainforest alliance logo on it. Only 45% cocoa.

Walkers sunbites - calming, natural home grown, multi grain, pushing forward homegrown. Natural flouring that ‘charming’. ’Tiny bursts of outstanding pleasure’
Friendly. Wheat fields and natural sun from the sun logo. Walkers logo is very small.
Walkers cheese and onion - , Bold text, British potatoes, fresh. Traditional.
Matt finish is nice.

Gin and tonic,
Greenalls - Type in simple, fresh green colour, younger and more modest. Logo is like a Bristish flag, London based gin. Rebranded in 2009. Logo on the back too so you still know who it is. Information is nicely done.

Gordons gin is established ‘ on front’ whilst the other is on the side. Gordans has brand on front and trademark simple.

Cookies. Maryland, Glowing, out of the oven. Maryland doesn’t actually say Cookies, but has the tag line ’nations best cookies’.   Font is bolder than Tesco - Tesco is plain and simple. Tesco is font is a meh colour, this is what you get. Quantity not quality.
